Description

Jewish Family Services is looking for a human-centered, solution-oriented individual who loves making the world a better place by helping people. Our KesherKC program employs an innovative approach to providing coordinated services across social work, medical, financial, and food pantry services to support individuals and families. The right individual for this position wants to help meet the immediate needs of clients, improve their financial security, and support their overall wellness. The Community Resource Coordinator is primarily based in our Brookside pantry, with some time out in the community as part of the mobile pantry team conducting needs assessments and referrals.

Requirements

Essential Duties:

  • Implement innovative best practices to  support low-income clients in improving their financial lives and overall wellness
  • Work directly with clients on  intake, assessment, case management, spending plans, goal setting, problem  solving, and providing appropriate referrals to service providers internally and externally to assist with goals. These services are provided in-person at  both agency locations, and at various community partner sites
  • Implement client-centered,  trauma-informed interventions with clients
  • This position will work with community partners to schedule  mobile community food distribution dates and fairs, providing off-site  services at partner locations 
  • Coordinate  and partner with allied agency programs and resources 
  • Document all participant  services in accordance with agency procedure and policy
  • Record client  interactions and documentation into all appropriate databases in a timely  manner

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Work or other relevant  discipline
  • Experience with best practices in  support of low-income families
  • Proven strong engagement,  assessment, problem-solving, motivational, collaborative, and planning skills
  • Knowledge of and experience with  community resources, income support
  • Computer skills including MS  Office, internet browsers, testing programs, Outlook, and the ability to utilize  electronic client database

Environmental/Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully:

  • Able to comply with JFS mandatory Covid vaccination policy in accordance with federal ADA guidelines
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, talk, and hear
  • Able to arrive on time for a full day of work
  • Able to lift and move packages, equipment, supplies, files, etc.,  of up to 40 pounds
  • Able to stoop, bend down to the floor, or reach up above the head  to access various parts of the building or equipment 
  • Able to effectively use office equipment (including but not  limited to computer, phone, and printer/copier/fax machine) to fulfill essential functions of the position
  • Able to easily walk up and down stairs
  • Able to tolerate moderate noise in the office from computer,  phone, printer, voices, and lights
