OVERVIEW

The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) seeks an individual for the position of Accreditation Coordinator. The Accreditation Coordinator is an entry-level position located in North Bethesda, Maryland (relocation from Falls Church, Virginia on September 1, 2022). This role provides support and interpretive guidance on accreditation standards to postsecondary institutions and volunteer evaluators before, during, and after on-site team visits to assess compliance with the standards of accreditation. This position is ideal for applicants with interest in compliance, administrative and academic quality, and/or higher education and requires a collaborative mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work with multiple staff and outside stakeholders at one time.


Accreditation experience or experience working in compliance is highly desirable. Direct experience with Microsoft programs, website platforms, and CRMs is required. Ability to prioritize workload and understand the importance of effective communications is also a necessity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate all aspects of assigned accreditation school visits, including but not limited to scheduling visits, developing teams, preparing materials, providing administrative support for visit meetings, editing reports, maintaining records, and responding to inquiries.
  • Evaluate school documentation for compliance with established standards, as well as provide consultative guidance and feedback to volunteers and school representatives with respect to the application of policies and standards.
  • Prepare and present summary reports during Board of Commissioners meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Commissioners.
  • Prepare draft correspondence (Commission Action Letters) to schools summarizing the Commission’s accreditation decisions.
  • Assist with additional accreditation initiatives, determined through consultation with their supervisor, based on organizational need and the coordinator’s skills and interests.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES SIGNIFICANT TRAVEL TO POSTSECONDARY INSTITUTIONS ACROSS THE U.S. AND ITS TERRITORIES. APPROXIMATELY 13-15 DAYS PER MONTH WILL BE SPENT TRAVELING DURING VISIT MONTHS (FEBRUARY, MARCH, APRIL, AND AUGUST, SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited postsecondary institution
  • Ability to travel significantly
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Professional experience in higher education or accreditation a plus!
