Daily Tasks:

The Landscape Designer will be responsible for meeting with clients on site to evaluate soil quality, existing plants and building features, sunlight and drainage conditions to determine appropriate landscape design. Taking into account these natural features as well as the client’s desires, the architect will develop detailed blueprints to scale. Designs may be presented to the client by the estimator or the architect and will be implemented by the Senior Project Manager. Clear and timely communication with all parties involved is imperative for quality work. The Landscape Designer reports directly to the owners for all questions or concerns.

Requirements
  • Current and valid PA Driver’s license
  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Design, required
  • Orientation training will include completing NCMA & ICPI certifications and a thorough comprehension of LMN software
  • Thorough comprehension of DynaScape software (Training Provided by LRL)
  • Experience designing with DynaScape, Realtime Landscape Architect, GIS, CAD, Sketchup, Adobe InDesign, 3DS Max, or Photoshop preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Superior oral and written communication skills


Expectations

  • The draft/design landscapes and hardscapes in GIS, CAD, Sketchup, Adobe InDesign, 3DS Max, Photoshop or freehand to provide vision and value for our clients (Local Roots will provide company preferred programs and training)
  • Meeting with existing and potential clients.
  • Providing working and scaled construction plans for our teams.
  • Working with our sales team and project manager to offer a comprehensive landscape/hardscape product to our clients. 
  • Using creativity and the beauty of nature to create harmonious, aesthetically pleasing and functional areas.
  • Exhibiting a working knowledge of grade changes, elevations, and drainage considerations on every project.
  • Planning the finished product and tying in new features with current ones by designing to scale. These drawings will be very detailed, not approximations.
  • Performing site analyses that include the assessment of current plants, soil conditions, lighting, the view, and architectural style of the house.
  • Keeping records, including everything from correspondence to reports.
  • Apply marketing skills to develop clients.
  • Meet with clients, builders, and engineers  to explain and understand project goals.
  • Networking with industry partners and potential clientele to develop Local Roots’ opportunities in the landscape and hardscape fields.
  • Select materials based on client desire, budget, and climate parameters.
  • Aiding our firm in delivering world class landscape services to our client base.

Primary Success Indicators:

  • Completion and management of a minimum of $6,000 of design work on a monthly basis. 
  • Maintaining a high standard of customer service and consistent deliverable package.
  • Exhibiting a strong, self directed work flow. 
  • Consistently meeting promised deadlines for both client and internal staff.
Salary Description
$55,000+
