Summary of Duties:

The Elementary Director leads volunteers & support staff to create and deliver an authentic Christ-centered community experience for kids in Kindergarten-5th grade Of primary importance is crafting experiences that are christ-centered, engaging, safe, and purposeful for kids and volunteers alike. 

Essential Functions

Team Leadership

  • Collaborate with supervisor to implement the overall strategic plan of the Children’s Ministry rooted in the CTK Roadmap.  
  • Set vision, mission, values & objectives for Elementary Ministry that align with the DNA of Children’s ministry and CTK as a whole. This includes future growth of the ministry.
  • Identify, deploy, train, and support volunteer teams with an emphasis on empowering & equipping volunteer leaders to accomplish the mission of Children’s Ministry.
  • The Elementary Director will look for opportunities to help volunteer leaders step into roles that help them develop and fully utilize their God-given talents.
  • Supervise by training, supporting, and evaluating Elementary Ministry staff & high capacity leads.
  • Lead large group and small group aspects of services with excellence & develop others.

Project Management

  • In conjunction with your supervisor, oversee the curriculum purchasing/creation/modification Environment layout for ministries targeted at elementary-aged students.
  • Initiate and maintain programming for Elementary Students that correspond with the presenting needs for care, support and discipleship and align with the DNA of CTK.
  • Oversee the ministry’s calendar and budget.
  • Oversee volunteer scheduling. 

Development and Support

  • Create & support opportunities for collaboration & partnership with parents in the spiritual growth of their children.
  • Provide focus on the ministry’s outreach, discipleship, and worship aspects.
  • Collaborate with other CTK ministries in order to create a synergistic ministry environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Display an obvious and growing love for Jesus and desire to see lives and communities changed by the Holy Spirit.
  • Experience with handling sensitive issues and maintaining confidentiality and trust.
  • Excellent communication and speaking skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Understanding of Google and Microsoft suite of products
  • Knowledge of current trends in childhood development
  • Awareness of demographics of the families we serve in Whatcom county
  • Experience or ability to learn ProPresenter
  • CPR certification preferred.
