In this position, you will develop, implement and maintain the Operations software and serve as the primary contact and liaison with working business areas and technology vendors. You are credible about the core system processes of the company and easily accessible to all levels of staff and management. You will collaborate with staff and leaders of Operations, Sales and Marketing. This is an opportunity to analyze, develop, and document business requirements and translate those requirements into IT solutions to solve business issues or needs – acting as a liaison between the business units and technology for all project phases ensuring that project requirements and deliverables meet business user expectations. Depending on qualifications, candidates may be considered at a higher level.

Essential Functions and Principal Accountabilities:

  • Serve as primary liaison between business units and the core processing systems used by Delta Dental of Iowa.
  • Coordinate project submissions in collaboration with technology and internal business units. This includes writing specifications for moderate applications, submitting detailed project requests, and working closely with staff to ensure appropriate priorities.
  • Coordinate weekly and monthly project review sessions with business units, manage multiple basic projects simultaneously to ensure project priorities are moving through the development pipeline to meet and exceed business user expectations. Participate as a team member.
  • Participate in design and development meetings with technology to provide perspective on the needs of the business users and help resolve issues arising during the project.
  • Research unexplained system processing results/deficiencies and identify the most cost- effective solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, debug, and implement system components which meet business requirements to remedy the deficiencies in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide ongoing support to business areas for system processes by serving as an expert resource.
  • Write system specifications coordinate activities with external customers and business areas to actively support e-commerce, through the use of electronic data interfaces including the website or data files.
  • Partner with business units on the development of data queries and reports to obtain critical information necessary for the analysis of various processes, functions and operations within the company.
  • Design, develop, test, and publish reports related to the company’s data warehouse and business intelligence software. Ensure the accuracy of these reports by leveraging existing knowledge of the core system and other data sources.
  • Develop positive working relationships with build trust with internal and external business partners, develop knowledge of internal and external business.
  • Provide on-call support when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in information systems, business, management or related field or commensurate work experience.
  2. 2-5 years of work experience, with a minimum of three years working actively with complex systems.
  3. Proficient understanding of SQL or related database software and applications.
  4. Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities and skills with emphasis in solving problems independently. Must possess ability to diagnose reported problems beyond superficial symptoms and identify root/system cause(s).
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in actively working with all levels of employees, including leadership levels, Group contacts and Dentists.
  6. Demonstrated ability to multi-task responsibilities and to manage workloads to established deadlines.
  7. Insurance industry experience, specifically dental, is preferred.
