Description

Indiana Farmers Insurance is currently looking for a Database Administrator to join our Information Technology Team. The ideal candidate will be local to the Midwest and surrounding states of Indiana.


This position is responsible for the backup and security of all company data stored on all company databases. You will be the primary point of contact for technical expertise in the areas of design of all company database objects, including tables, stored procedures, triggers and functions. Your technical expertise will ensure effective and smooth continuity of operations and transactions in support of our vision.

Requirements

Qualifications for the Database Administrator:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Science or Engineering
  • Five years progressive database experience, preferable in the insurance industry 
  • Comprehensive understanding of database concepts designs and functionality 
  • Leadership, organizational and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work with Data Architects and other IT specialists to set up, maintain and monitor data network
  • Strong interpersonal skills required for effective communication at the staff, peer, and executive levels of the organization, along with vendors and other contacts while managing a project 
  • Proven experience in managing multiple tasks/projects simultaneously 
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic environment and have the capability to manage and change priorities as needed to accomplish company objectives

Responsibilities for the Database Administrator:

  • Installing and maintaining corporate database servers employing industry standard tools
  • Troubleshooting and resolving database problems to include database integrity, performance, deadlocking, connectivity and security issues
  • Actively evoking Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using both native and 3rd party monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) Options 
  • Supporting vendor requests for authorized data and implements vendor solutions against company databases 
  • Knowledge of base server operating systems
  • Implementing indexes, index management, statistics and operational automation
  • Configuring servers and databases
  • Preserving data integrity
  • Performing SQL server MS Software release reviews and updates
