Description

The Children’s Pastor will help to fulfill the mission, vision, and values of CTK by equipping and empowering a team of staff and volunteers to create christ-centered experiences for kids birth - 5th grade and their families, that help them take their next steps towards a transforming life of discipleship. 


Essential Functions

  • Stewards the vision for Children’s Ministry
    • Creates vision, objectives, and goals for Children’s Ministry that align with the overall mission and current strategy of CTK.
    • Oversees all aspects of Children’s Ministry to create ministry experiences that are christ-centered, informed by child development principles, and accessible to kids and parents accounting for a wide range of spiritual maturity.
    • Selects, modifies, edits, and disseminates curriculum in coordination with Children’s Ministry directors.
    • Clearly communicates mission and vision and creates the type of environments that inspire, empower, and equip volunteer leaders to engage in meaningful ministry.
    • Actively seeks opportunities to empower and equip parents to lead their families toward healthy relationships with God and each other.
  • Management of Children’s Ministry
    • Directly supervises all Children’s Ministry directors & is responsible for all members of the kids ministry team.
    • Translates mission, vision, and approach effectively to the team. 
    • Creates and manages the Children’s Ministry budget and calendar to promote stewardship and use funds in alignment with vision and that year’s specific goals.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration
    • Participates in implementation team, work groups, creative team, and other planning groups as requested in order to find strategic areas to create synergy between adult programming & ministry to kids & families.
    • Collaborates with Student Life Ministry to maximize the transition from 5th to 6th grade, as well as to encourage leadership training opportunities for students in the kids’ programs
    • Works cooperatively with other ministries to provide some childcare options when appropriate to strategically support the work of the ministry.
    • Participates in church-wide initiatives with special consideration for how to make content accessible and applicable to kids and their families.
    • Attend or lead volunteer training events in order to strengthen the translation of CTK culture and values to Kids ministry volunteers.
    • Perform all Pastoral duties (POC, Commons duties, Sacerdotal duties) and collaborate with CTK to carry out the mission of CTK
Requirements
  • A life characterized by spiritual growth, spiritual disciplines, and the pursuit of spiritual & emotional health.
  • A minimum of 7 years ministry experience including leading a ministry with 200+ children and have a proven history demonstrating spiritual maturity and leading leaders. 
  • Ability to edit, modify, and disseminate curriculum effectively.
  • Ministry experience at a large church setting of at least 2k attendees.
  • A degree and/or extensive experience or training in christian education, theology, child development or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated competency in supervising teams and managing programs with 75+ volunteers with an emphasis on leadership development.
  • Must be able to create, translate, and implement strategies that will align with the church’s overall strategic plan.
  • Ability to track several projects at the same time, monitor deadlines and expectations, address issues as they arise.
  • Experience in leading and managing a staff of 3 or more people.
  • Ability to adapt leadership to benefit team members with varied wiring, work styles, and personalities.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position which includes long hours on your feet, bending, lifting, etc.
