Substitute Teacher
Description

Position Specifics:

  •  Substitute teachers perform the instructional and classroom management processes for teachers who are absent for a day or longer periods of time
  • Their duties include taking attendance, explaining homework, and maintaining classroom cleanliness. 
  • Candidates need to be flexible in their availability. 

General Employee Description:

  • Goal: The Employee shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God.
  • Responsible to: Grace Preparatory Academy Department Chairperson, Dean of Academics, and Head of School
  • Supervises: May supervise student teachers, aides, and volunteers as needed.

Teaching Position:

Purpose: To create a flexible elementary or secondary program and a class environment favorable to growth within a University Model School®; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to progress to the next academic level; to teach assigned classes following the prescribed scope and sequence developed by the academy; establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

The teacher shall:

  1. Be in agreement with the academy’s statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education.
  2. Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions towards others. This includes being committed to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct. Luke 6:40
  3. Be a member in good standing at a local church that has a Statement of Faith in significant agreement with the academy’s Statement of Faith.
  4. Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ.
  5. Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go.”

Job Description-Supplemental Functions:

The teacher shall:

  1. Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation process for professional growth.
  2. Support the broader program of the academy by attending extracurricular activities when possible.
  3. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the administration.
