All Chicago prevents and ends homelessness through emergency financial assistance, community partnerships, data analytics, and training and research. Through our Community Partnerships program, we serve as the backbone of Chicago’s city-wide response to homelessness. We partner with 44 agencies and lead them through a year-round research, evaluation, strategic planning, and federal funding application process. In addition, we provide trainings, workshops, research, and analysis to help our partners apply proven strategies to prevent and end homelessness in Chicago even more effectively. All Chicago partners with 44 agencies who provide housing directly to people experiencing homelessness in Chicago. This role will directly support the compliance, audits, and technical assistance activities that All Chicago, the Continuum of Care Collaborative Applicant for Chicago, performs with these housing partners. Monitoring is a key element to ensuring partners provide quality housing and supportive services to people who have experienced homelessness. The VISTA member will assist with increasing All Chicago’s monitoring and technical assistance capacity by providing support with reviewing and evaluating policies and practices. The VISTA member’s support and feedback will contribute to system improvements that will help participants remain stably housed and avoid returning to homelessness.
This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive expert training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. The VISTA member will conduct 3-4 agency audits with support from the CoC Program Team. The audits involve evaluating policies, files, data entry, and assessments. The VISTA member will assist with completing audit reports, researching regulations and best practices, and developing at least 3 technical assistance (TA) articles for publication on All Chicago’s website. Additionally, the VISTA member will provide written feedback for All Chicago and the monitoring workgroup by suggesting practices that will increase efficiency, effectiveness and capacity for ongoing monitoring and TA.
The ideal candidate will have skills and experience researching and evaluating policies and procedures. This experience could have been gained in a volunteer, employment, or academic setting. Important attributes include attention to detail, written communication skills, and critical thinking.
