Description

  

Under the supervision of Controller, the Staff Accountant performs professional accounting work in the analysis, preparation, maintenance, control, and reconciliation of financial records and reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  

  • Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing adhoc reports. 
  • Prepares monthly asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Prepares financial transactions by entering account information e.g. accounts receivable, cash receipts, Federal/State/Local municipalities program invoicing, etc.
  • Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts i.e. weekly cash report, cash flow analysis, etc.
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
  • Manage collection efforts and associated functions.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Preparing journal entries, analysis, account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes.
  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Provide support for internal and external audits.
  • Ensuring all accounting procedures, records, and reports conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP);
  • Assisting the Senior Accountant as needed.
  • Perform clerical duties for department, including word processing and filing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the President, Chief Administrative Officer and/or other key management staff.
Requirements

  

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Good problem-solving and time management skills. 
  • Highly organized and  detail-oriented.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Requires excellent computing skills  in Microsoft Office and good organizational skills.
  • Experience with Fund E-Z, or comparable financial software, required. 
  • Ability to present financial information concisely verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds. 
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s license.
  • Must provide proof of automobile insurance.

Salary Description
$70,000
