Description

In this role, you will be a key team member supporting all functions related to payroll, including processing semi-monthly and monthly payroll. You will also be responsible for processing leaves of absence, salary changes and benefits, and calculating and filing payroll taxes. The ideal candidate would be highly organized with critical attention to details, along with good time and priority management, be proficient in Excel and possess analytical skills with an affinity for math and spreadsheets.


As a member of our Accounting team, your job would involve: 

  • Processing semi-monthly and monthly payroll for 3800+ employees across 4 states; Calculating the correct amount incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses etc. with the assistance of a computer system
  • Learning the internal Payroll System, “STEPS”
  • Understanding the workflow of the Payroll cycle and using the STEPS system appropriately
  • Demonstrating Payroll knowledge through the quality and quantity of work
  • Processing parental leaves, leaves of absence, time without pay, and terminations
  • Processing changes in schedules, health insurance, taxes, and other information
  • Coordinating employee raises monthly 
  • Calculating and filing state and federal payroll tax payments 
  • Coordinating the distribution of year-end tax documents
  • Maintaining and documenting all payroll records and staff members’ personnel files
  • Receiving approval from upper management for payments when needed
  • Processing salary changes, deductions, bonuses, vacations payouts, and benefits payments for staff members
  • Working with outside companies to complete employment verifications for past and current employees
  • Responding to payroll queries from staff members in a timely manner
  • Analyzing payroll issues and recommending corrective actions
  • Maintaining confidentiality; protecting staff members’ data as identified in state and federal laws and internal controls.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or associate degree with coursework in accounting preferred and/or 2-3 years of applicable work or military experience
  • Previous accounting/payroll experience
  • General knowledge of accounting cycle
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, numerical aptitude
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Hiring salary range: $57,600 - $69,600 per year.

Actual salary will be determined based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
