The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is seeking a seasoned digital fundraiser to join our tight-knit team. In this role, you will use your expert communication skills and keen sense of initiative to spot fundraising opportunities and manage fundraising campaigns. By coordinating email and other digital campaigns and promotions, you will hone a vital skill set while moving CSPI closer to its financial goals.
The ideal candidate will be motivated, professional, and organized, with a knack for testing new digital platforms and offers. We are looking for someone who believes in CSPI’s mission and will demonstrate an exceptional drive to further our existing fundraising efforts and help strategize and deliver new ones. This position reports to the Director of Business Operations and is located either CSPI’s DC office or remotely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Work with Director of Business Operations to develop details of, and operationalize, acquisition and fundraising strategy. 
  • Implement small-dollar digital fundraising campaigns for lead generation, donor and member acquisition.
  • Coordinate with the Deputy Director of Digital Strategy and Social Media Associate on social media campaigns and paid campaigns for donor acquisition and donor development.  
  • Oversee creation, production, and deployment of fundraising email communications to cultivate and retain donors.
  • Identify and plan new donor acquisition and membership acquisition opportunities to help CSPI meet its financial goals. 
  • Support, plan, conduct, and analyze A/B tests to optimize email and donation form performance through personalization and other enhancements.
  • Provide thorough quality assurance testing on emails, donation forms, web pages, and other work products.
  • Regularly monitor and analyze the team’s emails and fundraising efforts to draw conclusions, spot trends, and improve performance, communicating results to team and making recommendations for future optimization.
  • Build and maintain donation forms and related assets.
  • Research new digital fundraising technologies and platforms.
  • Organize digital fundraising events. 
  • Form strong relationships with external consultants and vendors.
  • Stay abreast of digital fundraising industry best practices.
  • Assist with marketing projects as needed. 


  • A minimum of 5 years’ digital fundraising, sales, or marketing experience.
  • Attention to detail and a highly organized, process-focused aptitude.
  • Ability to leverage insights through data analytics (assessment, analysis, and reporting). 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Adept at managing tasks, planning/scheduling, and balancing priorities. 
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and comfort using digital tools. Experience with Every Action email deployment platform, and CRM donor database platforms, preferred. 
  • Experience with writing fundraising copy.
  • Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion at the intersection of public health and social justice and the ability to promote it throughout the work and in the workplace. 

The salary range is $65,000-$75,000, based on experience. CSPI offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes: 3 weeks of annual vacation leave; additional paid holiday leave between December 24 and January 1; 8 weeks of paid parental leave; excellent medical and dental insurance with CSPI paying a significant portion of employee and dependent premiums; and a 3% employer match contribution to the retirement plan after one year of service.
