The Y is seeking a Gymnastics Instructor to work in their busy Gymnastics Center. In this role you will instruct gymnastics classes in a safe, enjoyable, culturally aware and positive environment that promotes positive youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Essential Functions of the Gymnastics Instructor

1. Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests while exemplifying the Y’s commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responds to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner. 
2. Leads energizing, fun, culturally aware, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals. 
3. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. 
4. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members. 
5. Builds effective, culturally aware, authentic relationships with members
6. Helps members connect with each other and the YMCA. 
7. Provides direct supervision and instruction to gymnastic participants in accordance with the YMCA best practices, policies and procedures. 
8. Assists with setting up and adjusting lesson plans and structure of classes, rentals, and open gymnastics. 
9. Builds effective, culturally aware, authentic relationships with students. 
10. Identifies potential volunteers/employees.  
11. Develops positive relationships with participants and provides motivational support and guidance. 
12. Performs evaluations each session which will give participants a baseline from which to grow. 
13. Conveys program information, surveys, and annual campaign information to participants. 
14. Participates in staff meetings, training, events, reviews, and other scheduled events. 
15. Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures, standards, and code of conduct.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Meets 80% to 100% of the following qualifications: 

1. Ability to perform duties with professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, empathy, care, honesty, and respect. 
2. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. 
3. Must be at least 18 years old to be alone on the floor with class, rental or open gymnastics. 
4. Must have a fundamental knowledge of gymnastics skills and the ability to demonstrate them. 
5. Willingness to learn additional areas in the gymnastics department. 
6. Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with class participants, superiors, and co-workers. 
7. Must be able to implement oral and written instructions. 
8. Exercises mature judgment and sound decision making. 

PREFERED LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Must have a fundamental knowledge of gymnastics skills and the ability to demonstrate them. 
2. Willingness to learn additional areas in the gymnastics department. 
3. Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with class participants, superiors, and co-workers. 
4. Must be able to implement oral and written instructions. 
5. Exercises mature judgment and sound decision making. 
6. Must have 5+ years of gymnastics or related coaching or teaching experience. 
7. Must have knowledge of proper use of gymnastics equipment. 
8. Ability to lift equipment and spot children.
