As the Accounts Payable Accountant at A-Basin, you are responsible for processing accounts payable, accounting entries, reconciliations, and will perform all administrative tasks related to the A/P function. This position meets the critical need of our organization to keep accurate records of payment and provide financial services to our teams throughout A-Basin.

 NOTE: October 1, 2022, the starting pay for A/P Staff Accountant will be $23.00/hour.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve A/P functions including: purchase order management, invoice processing/reconciliation, check and EFT payment disbursements while meeting 30-day credit terms
  • Perform timely statement and account review for overdue or outstanding billings
  • Maintain account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and vendor trade accounts
  • Be responsible for timely monthly/installation payments via contract review 
  • Maintain strong relationships and communication with vendors 
  • Work with the Accounting team to complete month-end close responsibilities at the beginning of the month 
  • Assist with the treasury management function through journal entries and cash reports 
  • Prepare monthly utility accruals and manual A/P accruals   
  • Train purchase order originators on J.D. Edwards software  
  • Perform reconciliations for outstanding purchase orders   
  • Maintain procedure manuals for all major areas of responsibility including user manuals for managers and supervisors 
  • Be responsible for providing AP reports to the company as needed 
  • Maintain an ethical fiduciary responsibility to company assets; demonstrate competence, confidentiality, integrity and credibility of the accounting function
  • Prepare 1099 and 1096 forms for contractors and the IRS  
  • Cross-train to cover for other accounting positions when needed 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting – preferred  

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of previous experience working in a professional office setting performing accounting- or finance-related tasks

  • Ability to withstand high-altitude conditions at all times

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. while using proper lifting technique

Other Requirements:

  • Schedule flexibility around month-end and quarter-end closes

Work Environment:

  • This position will mostly work indoors – in an office setting while using a computer. This role works in an office located in a high-alpine environment in all types of weather conditions. Some remote work may be allowed.
