This position is responsible for maximizing philanthropic support from major donors for PCHAS’ new Service Center in Farmington, MO. The position will also engage volunteers who live in and around Farmington, MO. This position reports to the Senior Development Officer based in St. Louis, MO.
•Cultivating and soliciting unrestricted major gifts from individuals and caring congregations in Southeast Missouri.
•Hosting PCHAS Gatherings, presentations, and moments for mission.
•Recruiting and coordinating volunteer service for the new PCHAS Service Center.
•Recruiting donors in Farmington to attend the annual PCHAS luncheon in St. Louis.
•Presenting opportunities for donors to consider endowment gifts, planned gifts and capital campaign gifts as those opportunities are approved.
•Assisting the Director of Foundation Grants and Manager of Foundation Grants with site visits as requested.
•Coordinating the promotion and collection of in kind donations, primarily Back to School Supplies and Christmas Gifts.
•Nurturing relationships with program, administrative and fundraising volunteers, including the PCHAS Ambassadors who champion PCHAS’ mission in their home churches or service organizations.
•Write call reports for all donor visits and meaningful phone calls.
•Participate in the weekly Development Officer conference calls.
•Maintain a positive working relationship with program staff members.
•Perform other job related duties as assigned.
•A degree (or degrees) in management, marketing, or a field compatible with the general skills required to accomplish the tasks of the position.
•Demonstrated ability in the area of public relations and funds development for non-profit organizations.
Licenses and Certifications
Certification as a CFRE professional fund-raiser is desirable, but not required.
Knowledge and Skills
•Current knowledge of or excellent aptitude for learning and implementing major gift strategies.
•Flexibility in interpersonal style in order to accommodate working with various constituencies.
This Development Officer position is designed to be a work from home position, but the agency has had success in the past securing office space in a local church if that option is sought. Development activities are carried out in a variety of settings. Some functions are performed in a home office environment while others occur in a donor’s home or place of business. Travel is required to meet with the position’s direct supervisor (Senior Development Officer), the Senior Vice President of Development, to attend development staff planning retreats and to meet with donors.
