Role Summary:


Vydia is seeking a creative dealmaker to join the team as our Senior Vice President of Business Development. This person will identify revenue growth opportunities, manage strategic partnerships, and negotiate impactful deals that maximize the ROI of the company’s invested efforts. As part of the Executive team and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be a high-impact player, leading strategies that foster the company’s core business growth and identify ancillary opportunities consistent with the company’s business. You will be responsible for managing internal and external Legal teams and often coordinate with internal stakeholders in Finance, Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations. 


The right person for this role will have extensive knowledge of the music industry’s market opportunity, cutting-edge trends, and has extensive relationships across the industry. You will need to be an analytical thinker equipped with an entrepreneurial and growth mindset, embrace problem-solving and enjoy collaboration with all types of people.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage Vydia’s partner strategy and relationships; Travel to meet current and potential partners; Attend events and conferences to expand partner network and industry knowledge
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and drive partner-related business processes; Create business development communication systems and onboarding workflows that are seamless for external and internal stakeholders, including technical product integrations, operational training changes, and marketing press release announcements of new partnerships
  • Field requests from partners, prioritize them internally, manage partner expectations, and liaise mutually beneficial solutions  
  • Manage all partner contracts and create a system that allows you to communicate existing deal points, evaluate new deals, negotiate terms, renewals, terminations, etc as needed
  • Research, analyze and propose growth opportunities, leveraging your network and industry knowledge to identify key partnerships
  • Manage and collaborate with internal and external Legal teams to optimize the deal flow process 
  • Analyze and present detailed evaluations of competitive landscape assessments, gap analyses, etc, market trends, etc in support of new partnerships and business venture proposals 
  • Assists with lead generation and sales process strategies, including persona development, identifying top-tier prospects, negotiation tactics, and support closing deals
  • Understand and stay up-to-date on partner compliance, quality requirements, and brand guidelines; Acquire and maintain preferred partner status relationship and visibility for lead generation
  • Stay informed and educate the greater team on partner developments and impact on the company 

Role Qualifications:

  • Hybrid/remote role, but must be located in one of these states: NJ, NY, CA, PA, FL, TN 
  • 10+  years experience managing music industry partnerships, negotiating contracts, and/or sales quota accountability
  • 5+ years managing and working with cross-functional teams
  • Superior communication skills; Comfortable deploying all methods of communication (phone call/text, email, in-person meeting) and can evaluate how to leverage them properly 
  • Energized by in-person meetings and events and enjoys business travel often 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/accounts and maintain standards when it comes to attention to detail
  • Can prepare and communicate concise, impactful updates at the Executive level, but can also dig into the details when investigation and analysis are needed
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence (EQ), and ability to easily influence/drive alignment among differing perspectives

Preferred qualifications:

  • Background in Legal, Sales, and/or Business Strategy 
  • Passionate about music, media, and technology 
  • Specific experience negotiating digital music content licensing and brand deals with senior music executives; Comfortable interpreting licensing agreements and other legal documents
  • Experience with CRM like Hubspot or Salesforce
  • Has a sense of urgency, and can act effectively when needed to maintain and achieve partner satisfaction
  • Experience with a compensation structure that includes base plus commission 
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to evaluate  instinct along  with a thorough and thoughtful approach to making data-driven decisions
