Position Summary:

The Vice President of Operations and DC Logistics will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operations activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization. Expertise in warehouse operations (to include multiple locations) a must for this fast-growing overnight business model. Understanding pharmaceutical distribution will be key.

Requirements

Essential Functions 

  • Provides leadership and direction to the business as it relates to overall warehouse operations and transportation strategy, organizational structure, organizational design, and long-term vision.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems.
  • Drives change and innovations in line with target performance metrics and will establish the strategic direction to achieve industry leading cost-effective solutions.
  • Creates efficiencies and leverages multi-locations distribution and transportation costs, while maintaining high service levels.
  • Ensures distribution operations are effectively managed by maximizing the utilization of all available resources.
  • Collaborates with other divisions and departments to carry out the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Ensures that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, and facilities are in line with the organizations business plan and vision.
  • Manages and creates critical performance metrics in the distribution locations, proactively resolve problems, introduces best practices, and fosters positive change as required. Holds leaders and teams accountable for performance.
  • Reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements.
  • Establishes and administers the department budget; manages capital budgets effectively.
  • Develops and executes inventory management strategies that reduce costs and improves sales through better-in-stock positions, creates improved accuracy and forward visibility that save costs while improving availability and flow of product.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing our distribution center locations by monitoring implementation and practice to ensure compliance.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative, constructive interpersonal relationships with team members at all levels.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative communication and relationships with third parties, such as suppliers, vendors, and customers; uses effective negotiation skills and resolves conflicts.
  • Oversees overall safety initiatives and functions for multi-locations.
  • Analyzes, identifies, and proposes action to the solutions of problems with the operations and leadership teams to increase the effectiveness of operations.
  • Builds a high performing team and talent pipeline that supports and nurtures future leaders of the organization.
  • Builds peer support and strong internal-company relationships with other key management personnel.
  • Actively participates in and contribute to company initiatives, projects, and committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations, Logistics, Engineering, or another industry-related field.

Experience: Minimum 10 years or more of senior operations management experience required; working in the pharmaceutical distribution preferred; 3 years or more distribution leadership experience across multiple sites required, comprehensive warehouse management systems experience required.

Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft suite of products including Excel, Word, and Outlook; must possess the ability to learn and master computer systems used within the company.

Other Skills: Strategic thinking, strong communication skills, ability to work well under pressure, attention to detail, and possess strong management, and leadership skills. Strong business acumen with a broad understanding of fundamental business principles. Strong work ethic, characterized by initiative, drive, and goal orientation.
