Description

In this position, the employee will assist the project engineer and/or project leader in structural analysis and design, drawings and specifications, development of building information models, and construction administration on a variety of projects.

  •  Perform structural analysis and calculations.
  • Responsible for review, mark-up and correction of shop drawings.
  • Draft construction documents in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Develop structural models for new structures, repairs and/or renovations.
  • Perform on-site inspections/special inspections.
  • Prepare inspection and field observation reports.
  • Assist in the production of technical studies and investigative reports.
  • Coordinate and communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally internally with team and project leader along with external consultants, contractors, clients, owners, and other SKA disciplines.
  • Attend design coordination meetings with team members and client representatives, as necessary.
  • Assist in preparation of proposals and bidding documents.
  • Assist the project leader(s) in the development of drawings, sketches, specifications, and sections for project layouts and contract documents, as needed.
  • Assist project team in production of projects on time, within budget and of a high technical quality.
  • Demonstrate a desire to advance technical and project management knowledge and skills
  • Actively participate in professional organizations where the technical reputation and image of the firm may be enhanced.
  •  Employee must be able to travel to jobsites as needed, up to 10% of the time, including overnight periodically. 
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (structural major) from four-year college or university. Post graduate degree preferred. Must have basic knowledge of construction practices, terminology, and materials. Relevant structural internship or experience preferred. 


Certifications, Licenses, Registrations 

Valid driver's license. Engineering Intern (E.I.) certification. Must be able to complete required OSHA training.


Computer Skills 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet. Working knowledge of engineering design and analysis software programs, such as RISA and RAM, along with basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is preferred. Familiarity with Bluebeam is a plus.
