At Arapahoe Basin we strive to support our employees in any way we can. We understand it can be difficult to get to work in the mountain community we live in and now operate an employee shuttle to get people to and from work each day.

As the Employee Shuttle Driver at Arapahoe Basin you will provide an essential service to our employees by driving our employee shuttle to get people to and from work each day. This position is responsible for driving the shuttle vehicle to and from each designated pick up/ drop off point while adhering to a strict schedule, as well as inspecting the vehicle for cleanliness and overall safety. 

The Employee Shuttle Drivers’ work hours will be approximately 6:30am – 10:30am and 3:30pm – 7:30pm. These times are subject to change. Those looking for full-time work would need to commit to working both of these time slots with a long break in the middle of the day and work at least 4 days a week. This allows time to ski or ride! 

We are also looking for part-time employees for this position. This would require committing to working one of the time slots listed above 2 or more days per week. 

This position requires individuals who value customer service, are very punctual and have a strong attention to detail and their surroundings.  

A CDL is not required for this role but you must be able to pass a motor vehicle background check and be skilled at driving in a snowy, high alpine, mountainous environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service to A-Basin employees and guests to ensure a day worth repeating.  
  • Drive the employee shuttle on a daily basis adhering to all time restrictions and safety protocols.
  • Adhere to shuttle capacity limits at all times 
  • Maintain awareness of road conditions, other vehicles, and all shuttle occupants to maintain safety and handle any situation that may arise. 
  • Inform shuttle riders of changes to schedule, pick up locations and other relevant information.
  • Maintain radio presence to relay current location and other necessary information.
  • Maintain communication and relationship with the Base Area and Vehicle Maintenance staff so you are up to date on weather patterns and other operational concerns. 
  • Work closely with the HR manager and other HR team members to ensure the shuttle is operating as effectively as possible. 
  • Complete daily operation logs for the shuttle including rider numbers, shuttle stop times and shuttle vehicle information.
  • Ensure the shuttle vehicle is fueled, well maintained and presentable at all times. 
  • Record and report all major incidents and accidents to the HR manager.  
  • Other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Successfully complete A-Basin Shuttle driving training upon hire.

Experience Requirements:

  • Previous experience driving a large shuttle type vehicle with groups of people on board. – Preferred 

Skills Required:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and constant awareness of surroundings.
  • Great improvisational skills
  • Strong knowledge of applicable traffic laws and safe motor vehicle driving techniques
  • Mountain driving skills and familiarity with tire chains - preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to withstand high-altitude conditions at all times 
  • Ability to sit, stand, and navigate stairs 
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to see with or without corrective lenses for the purpose of driving a motor vehicle. 

Other Requirements:

  • Must be available weekends and some holidays
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on shuttle needs

Work Environment:

  • This position will spend most work time sitting, driving a 15-passenger shuttle vehicle in a high alpine snowy environment. Navigating hazardous road conditions, traffic and road closures is frequent. Some work will be performed outside inspecting the vehicle. A small amount of work time will be spent in an office environment assisting with administrative tasks when needed.
