INSURV: Maritime Technical Inspector

Background: The Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) was established to advise the Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) and the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) in matters concerning the acceptance of newly commissioned ships and the suitability of active Fleet units for further service. The mission of INSURV is to keep higher authority informed of the material condition of the operating forces and is accomplished through appropriately scheduled ship inspections.

To support this effort, we are seeking subject matter experts to fill positions as technical inspectors of combat systems, deck, boats, cranes, engineering (propulsion, auxiliary, damage control and electrical) systems.

Requirements

  

Experience: At least 10 years’ technical experience in the maintenance, upkeep and operation of shipboard systems with specialized expertise in the evaluation of operating tests, maintenance checks, pre-light off checks, etc.. At least three years’ experience conducting visual inspections and working knowledge of applicable inspection standards. 

10 years’ Experience in the maintenance, repair, and operations of shipboard deck, engineering, or combat systems

Expertise in the performance of visual and operating inspections

  • Detailed subject matter expertise in one of the following areas:
  • Deck Systems (ground tackle, boats, cranes, davits, replenishment systems)
  • Gas Turbine Engines
  • Steam Plants
  • Diesel Engines
  • Combat systems (radars, guns, missiles, launching systems, C5I)
