The National Instrumentalist Mentoring and Advancement Network (NIMAN) is a new organization, supported by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, with ambitious plans to coordinate innovative collaboration in the classical music field. We strive to kindle and galvanize a national movement to build meaningful equity in our field’s institutions.  With a mission to create a level playing field for artists from backgrounds underrepresented in classical music, NIMAN engages a broad coalition of members to both break down barriers to BIPOC musicians achieving success in the field and dismantle the structural inequities, biases, and systemic racism ingrained in many of the policies and practices in our field. We work to ensure an inclusive and dynamic future for classical music that welcomes the talents and experiences of all.

NIMAN is currently recruiting for a Member Engagement and Marketing Coordinator who will work collaboratively with the Managing Director and NIMAN stakeholders to increase our membership and its value, and help tell our collective stories to a variety of stakeholders across different communications channels. NIMAN seeks an individual who is able to be flexible and responsive to the evolving needs of a start-up organization and grow into a leadership position.



Member Engagement:

  • Identify and develop relationships with prospective members with the goal of increasing our membership.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and management of all member engagement activities, including building affinity groups and working with NIMAN task forces.
  • Lead member focus groups to assess NIMAN’s current programming and inform future initiatives.
  • Build relationships with members and learn about their priorities for participation in NIMAN to help develop annual plans for engagement programming.
  • Assist the General Manager in the execution of member convenings and events.
  • Maintain organizational records of outreach activities and generate reports as needed.
  • Support member needs, including cultivating and sustaining relationships with current members.
  • Oversee membership billing/renewals and maintenance of membership records 

Marketing and Communications:

  • Design content that inspires participation in a national movement.
  • Collaborate on the creation and execution of campaigns that drive organic traffic and increase awareness, including website content and newsletters.
  • Oversee a consistent schedule of communications on a variety of social media platforms 
  • Write and edit content that aligns with member engagement objectives while maintaining brand voice, style, and tone across all channels.
  • Support creation of member-facing media that showcase NIMAN’s work and highlights the stories of the musicians we serve.
  • Track engagement metrics to improve campaigns.
  • Develop and pitch stories to local and national press to inspire greater engagement with the voices of our work and members.


  • Relevant/commensurate job-related experience required.
  • Proficiency in a variety of design and publishing tools in addition to G-Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Comfort working collaboratively and independently.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to NIMAN’s mission.

Reporting Relationship: General Manager NIMAN

Salary Description
Annual Wage Range: $50,000 - $55,000
