Position: Interim Volunteer Relations Manager

Reports to: Director of Training and Volunteer Relations

Location: Hybrid/Flexible - CASA of Los Angeles, Edelman Children’s Court, Monterey Park, CA

Status/Schedule: Temporary, Full-time/Exempt, Mon – Fri 8AM-5PM, weekend/evenings, required in office/field based on organization needs. 

Salary: $65,0000 annually

Through an intentional, restorative and culturally responsive lens, we train committed, consistent and caring adults who provide equitable access to resources and life-affirming connections. CASA/LA strengthens our community, ensuring that children and families have what they need to thrive. CASA/LA is on a path to expand services to 12,000 of the estimated 30,000 children in the LA County’s dependency system every year. Key to these efforts is growth in the number of people who know about CASA/LA, the number of volunteers recruited and trained each year, and revenue generated from individuals, foundations, corporations and government sources.


Position Overview

CASA of Los Angeles is seeking an outgoing, enthusiastic, interim volunteer relations manager to engage and provide broad support for CASA volunteers with the goal of increasing satisfaction and retention. This person will report to the director of training and volunteer relations and be responsible for volunteer programs that provide engagement, recognition, and appreciation.


Essential Job Functions

  • Create and facilitate opportunities for volunteers to engage with one another
  • Plan and produce the annual holiday appreciation party, annual volunteer appreciation event and other volunteer engagement events. 
  • Create and maintain volunteer recognition program
  • Provide reporting and outcome data regarding on volunteer satisfaction and retention 
  • Create monthly volunteer e-newsletter 

Responsibilities

  • Organize regular volunteer meetings, including quarterly volunteer forums groups, regional book clubs, CASA connections and other volunteer networking events
  • Enter and review relevant volunteer documentation in volunteer database and maintain regular quality assurance checks to ensure accurate data and reporting
  • Maintain, and report on, volunteer data including: advocacy hours, continuing education hours, attendance at events/other volunteer meetings, volunteer retention and satisfaction
  • Produce and manage CASA’s monthly newsletter (The Buzz) including: updating mailing list, coordinating with webmaster to update content on CASALA.org
  • Work with volunteers and the advocacy and development teams to produce volunteer highlights/spotlights for inclusion on social media, website, and other public media
  • Collaborate with volunteers, CASA staff and community partners to determine subject matter, and identify facilitators, for in-service presentations
  • Work with training manager to promote, host and coordinate volunteer in-service programs
  • Provide logistical support for advocacy’s share and support sessions
  • Assist the Department with tracking and performing volunteer background checks
  • Assist with new applicant interviews
  • Assist with pre-service volunteer training as-needed
  • Oversee children’s court assistant (CCA) program including scheduling, training and assisting in resolving challenges
  • Incorporates a trauma-informed, anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens to working with the community, staff and volunteers
  • Provide great customer service to volunteers, staff, and visitors
  • Other duties as assigned

Candidate Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of five years working with (training, overseeing, coordinating) volunteers
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to maintain and build relationships
  • Commitment to fostering an environment of respect for staff and volunteers, genuine relationships and excellence in our work
  • Knowledge of and experience working with a diverse population
  • Experience volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (may be gained on-the-job)
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule including some evening and Saturday work
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint, including, but not limited to, Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel and the ability to use database systems and website
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision carrying out daily duties
  • Ability to work in an open office environment with interruptions and inadvertent noises from employees and visitors
  • Ability to cultivate and develop collaborative, inclusive, and equitable working relationships with staff, volunteers, and community members

Preferred

  • Experience as a community volunteer
  • Experience using WordPress, Litmos, Efforts to Outcomes, TimeTap, Moodle
