Description

SUMMARY:

The TexasLawHelp Virtual Court Project (“VCP”) provides support for Self-Represented Litigants to attend virtual hearings. The VCP Network will be a network of community centers, Texas courts, and other project partners to support the kiosks and the self-represented litigant users of said kiosks. 


The VCP Network Coordinator is an essential member of the TexasLawHelp VCP and assists with designing, procuring, and deploying a network of remote court kiosks, coordinates with courts and community partners throughout Texas, provides training and oversight of Virtual Court Navigators as well as develops relationships with community centers and other project partners to support the kiosks.


This position is expected to maintain the highest ethical and professional standards, adhere to the American Bar Association Standards for the Provision of Civil Legal Aid; embrace and support TLSC’s overall mission; and comply with all grant requirements, regulations, standards, policies, and confidentiality requirements. 


This is a grant funded position.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with the Managing Attorney and other relevant TLSC staff to develop, coordinate, moderate, and leverage the VCP network. 
  • Coordinate the VCP network partner meetings, partner calls and partner project contact meetings to promote collaboration, problem solving and advancement of the VCP Network goals and objectives.
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of the Virtual Court Navigators as they support the kiosks.
  • Serve as a Virtual Court Navigator, when necessary and assist self-represented users in the use of Zoom and other technology to effectively attend virtual hearings.
  • Serve as a liaison between a third-party technical support company to support the kiosks. 
  • Develop network-wide written and verbal communications to include tracking and providing status updates on VCP network progress and milestone achievements, trend and outcome reporting, monthly newsletter development and distribution and satisfaction surveys. 
  • Work with network partners and other necessary parties (e.g., Judges, court staff and librarians) to develop and customize website content and statewide outreach plan.
  • Ensure that the resources available on Texas Law Help and the network plan are current and provide consistent and clear messaging. 
  • Travel to courts and partner worksites. 

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in the development of additional free and useful information resources to support users attending hearings remotely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION/LICENSE (PREFERRED):

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in any of the following fields:
  • Business Management
  • IT and/or Technical Support
  • Paralegal Studies
  • Social Work

EXPERIENCE (PREFERRED)

  • Experience with coordinating and scheduling group in person and virtual meetings.
  • Experience with providing limited technical support to users.
  • Experience supervising others in supporting user success.
  • Experience with developing and retaining partner business relationships.
  • Familiarity with the Texas court system, including communicating with court administrators, setting hearings, and court procedures.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS (REQUIRED)

  • Proficient in Microsoft including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail skills.
  • Exceptional and diplomatic verbal and written communications skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with and compiling a large amount of information as well as developing concise and accurate reports.
  • Ability to work in a patient, trauma-informed and non-judgmental manner. 
  • Ability to travel out of town that includes overnight stays. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting most of the time. 
  • Occasional bending, squatting and kneeling.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force is needed at times to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
