You’ll work directly on the property owner’s side of the table, across multiple asset types and project sizes. The successful candidate will be responsible for many aspects of the firm’s real estate construction activities. The position reports to the Vice President of Asset Management and is based in Burlington, VT. The selected candidate will be responsible for a variety of construction related initiatives including:

  • Managing construction and renovation projects for multiple types of commercial real estate assets across our portfolio
  • Working with the Redstone team to execute capital improvement projects, major renovations, tenant fit-ups, sustainability upgrades and development projects
  • Organizing and providing direction to general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors for work on our properties
  • Building a team of in-house tradesmen to support construction efforts
  • Estimating, budget & schedule development and management, bidding and negotiating, and ensuring overall quality and project control
  • Collaborating and coordinating with internal staff, architects, engineers, and other specialists, and hiring full-time and part-time subcontractors and laborers
  • Selecting subcontractors and scheduling and coordinating their activities
  • Attending coordination and progress meetings with owners and tenants; make regular trips to sites during construction including bid walks, preconstruction walks, in-progress site visits, punch walks, and construction closeout
  • Monitoring projects and report progress and budget matters to the owners and clients
  • Assisting with permitting and approvals process
  • Maintaining and updating SOW and preconstruction documents, and monitor contract obligations with a goal of building relationships with reliable contractors and vendors
  • Proactively identifying, mitigating, and tracking recurring construction issues

Education and Professional Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or comparable work experience in Construction Management 
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Ability to operate with an owner’s perspective
  • Knowledge of green building techniques
  • Knowledge of construction methods and technologies, and ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a constant eye on quality
  • Knowledge of jobsite safety practices required
  • Experience in project management including coordinating design, permitting and construction
  • Capable of successfully integrating with the company’s culture
