Position Overview

As the Gift Officer, you will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of current and prospective donors giving at or above $1,000 annually. In this position, you are responsible for  creating personalized strategies to maintain consistent annual giving, increase engagement with the Museum, and grow cumulative giving across all areas. The Gift Officer builds strong relationships with colleagues across the institution by communicating proactively and maintaining a professional demeanor and positive attitude. In this position, you are expected to adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donor. You must be able and willing to work some evenings and weekends, as required; along with travel (10%).   


What You Will Do:

Relationship Management 

  • Work collaboratively, under the direction of the Director of Major Gifts to accomplish individual, team, and organizational funding goals
  • Manage a diversified portfolio of 100+ qualified donors and increase cumulative giving from portfolio year-over-year 
  • Develop goals and strategies for donors in portfolio, averaging 30 substantive contacts per month 
  • Develop stewardship strategies that continue the major gift relationship for future gifts and planned giving opportunities 
  • Craft donor communication and create and implement personal donor engagement opportunities

Research & Analysis 

  • Regularly research, identify, and qualify new major gift prospects
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of donor research and activities in donor database
  • Track philanthropic activity toward demonstrated growth in cumulative giving 

Project Management & Collaboration  

  • Through collaboration, create, implement, and manage cultivation and stewardship events throughout the year
  • Collaborate with project leads across the institution to develop funding opportunities
Requirements

  

What You Will Bring:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in individual fundraising or sales

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities: 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible workplace culture
  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, and oral presentation  
  • Strong collaborative and relationship management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage concurrent projects
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to meet and exceed fundraising goals
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of donor database/CRM software
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse audience in a friendly and professional manner while demonstrating diplomacy, tact, and poise

  • Arts background
  • Experience with corporate sponsorship
  • Experience with Tessitura
