The Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ) is a bold and innovative collaborative effort to close the achievement gap in a geographic “Zone” of North Minneapolis. The purpose of our work is to end multigenerational poverty in our community, using education as a lever. We use a data-driven, evidence-based, achievement-focused model in which both children and their families move through a “cradle-to-career” ecosystem that provides comprehensive support. NAZ is a leading initiative in the national Promise Neighborhoods and cradle to college/career movement. As NAZ learns what works with families in North Minneapolis to address complex issues related to urban poverty, strategies are being set up for replication and informing the regional, state, and national field.

Position Overview:

The Early Childhood Systems Coordinator works collaboratively across NAZ partners and staff in the coordination and implementation of strategies designed to support the prenatal to kindergarten pipeline. This position will focus primarily on the administrative functions of doula service delivery, home visiting and early care and education support for NAZ families with children 0-5. The position also provides systems navigation for coaches and families and works  with NAZ partners to ensure effectiveness across processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support: Coordinate logistics for meetings with community partners. Preparing materials and communicating meeting results. Take notes during meetings and perform follow up communication on action commitment and progress toward strategy goals.. 
  • Family Referrals: Uses data reports to work with NAZ family coaches and partners to identify families who are eligible for doula and home visiting services. Facilitates the referral and enrollment process with the partner and family. Ensures that all documentation is accurate for successful enrollment into a partner program.
  • Data Monitoring: Coordinates between programs and strategy areas to foster data integrity in all processes and to problem solve gaps in data with the NAZ Data Innovation team and relevant partners. Monitor data collection practices to promote continuous improvement across the Early Childhood strategy. 
  • Systems Coordination: Act as a knowledge expert  about the various early childhood opportunities for families and serve as point of contact for Family Achievement Coaches. Track referrals and facilitate appropriate connection to programs and services. .
  • Training: Work with vendors to plan and coordinate staff  training that align with the needs and skills of partners and staff implementing strategy goals. Consult with the EC Director to assess training needs and build out a training calendar for the year.

External Relationship:

NAZ Parent, NAZ Anchor Partners, Community Doulas, Early Childhood System Partners, Program Consultants and vendors.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in community organizing.
  • The ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and track details for each is essential. 
  • The ability to work with frequent, established deadlines is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required, including the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with a variety of people and to represent NAZ effectively.
  • The ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals is required.
  • Ability to work with high-level proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience in Google docs and apps.
  • Commitment to professional development training, including understanding technology and data management systems.
  • Strong commitment to expectation that children growing up in North Minneapolis can succeed in academics and college.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is normally performed in an office work environment but may occasionally include lifting and bending.
  • Regular operation of normal office machines (computer, copier, and fax) is required.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends are required for special events.
  • Virtual instruction and communication may be required.

Salary Description
$48,000 - $64,000
