Digital Creative Director


The Creative Director for WITF Productions is responsible for guiding the design and creation of original content for multiple platforms and connecting new and existing audiences with engaging experiences. This newly created role will partner with Chief Digital Officer and Chief Audience Officer to create the strategy and roadmap for WITF Productions plus lead the development of scripted and unscripted audio and video content for a mix of on-demand and linear platforms.

This person must innately understand the digital landscape, including trends, opportunities, audience behavior, community management, and intersections with social media. They will ensure that our content reaches and serves diverse audiences, builds healthy engagement, and maximizes sustainability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as creative lead for all production projects, partnering with clients, producers, editors, graphics artists, and audio/video crews to achieve the finished product.
  • Provide creative target for all team members on a project.
  • Bring new and innovative approaches tailored for next-generation audiences.
  • Stay current with audience trends across the streaming and on-demand landscapes.
  • Champion an innovative and highly collaborative diverse culture that promotes idea generation, open communication, respect for others, and trust.
  • Liaison with various in-house clients for multimedia project work.
  • Write creative briefs, outlines, scripts, and interview questions.
  • Ensure that all produced content meets organizational policies and brand values while staying competitive.
  • Maintain cohesive visual and aural style across multiple existing and new content products. 
  • Work with the Marketing Department to craft plans and campaigns in support of products.
  • Participate in audience research (interviews, surveys, testing, and observation) to inform the creation and positioning of products and build healthy community relationships.
  • Build and nurture relationships with independent producers, organizations, and distributors. Research, review, acquire and schedule externally produced content for WITF digital channels.
  • Amplify local marginalized storytellers, engaging with diverse communities through a lens of inclusivity.
  • Evaluate and analyze product performance using a variety of analytics tools and audience insights research methods.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Media, Communications, related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum five years professional experience with video production and creative direction.
  • Deep understanding of the digital content marketplace and competitive landscape including experience publishing to modern digital platforms (YouTube, podcasts, social media, etc.).
  • Strong time-management, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with digital performance tools and conducting analysis. 
  • Previous work experience in an organizational setting preferred.
  • Interest and connections in the local arts/culture/lifestyle scene is bonus.
  • Experience with podcast production and the Public Media ecosystem are bonus.
