Provide data analysis support in keeping with NIC’s mission, vision, and overarching goals.


  • Strong communication skills—both oral and written.
  • Conduct data analyses in one or more data analysis tools to include but not limited to SQL, Excel, R/Python, or Tableau.
  • Develop and maintain analysis models to support research and product teams.
  • Perform original analysis on data sets covering demographic, economic, financial, health care, and proprietary data.
  • Maintain and produce routine reports; regularly optimize the report process.
  • Communicate insights from original analysis to members of Outreach team.
  • Develop externally facing content for the public, conferences, and NIC constituents.
  • Keep up to date on trends in data analysis and data sets relevant to NIC’s constituents.
  • Work with a team of motivated individuals with a passion for data and analytics.

  • Ability to use data to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to create and provide well-written prose and create and develop PowerPoint or other presentation formats a plus

  •   Limited, at about 2-3 times/year, including overnight stays


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Master’s degree in a math or computer science discipline or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience in merging, manipulating, and analyzing large data sets
  • Experience in a variety of data manipulation and visualization techniques
  • Preference given to candidates with experience in economic, demographic, healthcare, real estate market, and other financial data
  • Training with descriptive statistical methods
  • High degree of familiarity with at least one relational database querying language or data manipulation tool (e.g. SQL, R, Python, Tableau, SAS).
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, identify outliers, and draw valid conclusions
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Relevant certificates are considered a plus


  • Work is generally remote but when working in the NIC office environment there may be exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily or prolonged periods of time and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions as necessary. Physical requirements of this position include the following:
