Summary

 The Thread Rolling Operator is responsible to preform secondary operations to cold formed metal parts according to the production schedule, product specifications and machine capabilities within a team environment.

Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

•  Setup and operate a variety of thread rolling machines to produce quality products of any complexity
• Plan and perform close tolerance setups with little or no assistance
• Setup repetitive jobs requiring close tolerance
• Select feeds, speeds, cams, tooling, etc. for most economical production rate of the machine.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Use scales, micrometers, dial indicators and fixed gages to check and gage work
• Adapt or modify tooling to meet gage work
• Starts machine, observes operation, and inspects first run and sample work piece to ensure machining conforms to specifications
• Review the work and assist other operators as necessary to ensure proper work instructions and quality procedures are being followed
• Read blueprints for product specifications, dimensions and tolerances.
• Remove and Install specified tooling at changeovers and make all necessary adjustments

CERTIFICATION AND EDUCATION

• High school graduate or equivalent required.      

EXPERIENCE

• 3-5 years’ production experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

• Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work activities may include constant standing, walking, climbing, sitting, kneeling, stooping, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing, and crouching. Involves some lifting, 50lbs or less. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Will be exposed to diverse manufacturing environments.
• Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous material.

SAFETY

• Proper PPE to be worn while on the shop floor, to include safety glasses, hearing protection, “long pants” and steel toe boots if required and no loose or baggy clothing. 

CLEANLINESS

• Ensure work center is clean and free of debris and oil. Make sure everything organized and clean.
