A trailer technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing trailers used in various industries, such as transportation and logistics. They diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, perform routine maintenance tasks, and ensure trailers meet safety and regulatory standards. 


This role requires knowledge of welding, brake systems, suspension, and other trailer components.

Requirements
At Matthews Motors, we want the best of the best! The following are requirements in order to be considered for this position:
1. Education 
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent is required; vocational training or certification in automotive technology or a related field is advantageous. 
2. Experience:
  • Previous experience in trailer maintenance or a related field is often preferred, especially for more advanced roles. 
3. Mechanical Skills:
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of trailers. 
4. Technical Knowledge:
  • Understanding of trailer components, such as brakes, suspension systems, electrical systems, and welding techniques. 
5. Safety Awareness:
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to trailer maintenance and repair.
6. Problem-Solving:
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to efficiently identify and resolve issues. 
7. Attention to Detail:
  • Ability to conduct thorough inspections and ensure all components are in proper working condition. 
8. Physical Stamina:
  • Trailer technicians often need to lift heavy parts, maneuver under trailers, and perform physically demanding tasks. 
9. Communication:
  • Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and potentially clients. 
10. Tools:
  • Familiarity with various hand and power tools used in trailer repair. Will be required to bring your own tools
11. Driver's License:
  • Certain positions may require a valid driver's license for test driving trailers after repairs. 
12. Adaptability:
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and techniques as the trailer industry evolves. 
13. Time Management:
  • Efficiently managing time to complete repairs and maintenance tasks within specified deadlines. 
14. Teamwork:
  • Strong collaborative skills when working with other technicians or team members. 
15. Customer Service
  • If working directly with clients, the ability to provide excellent customer service is paramount. Keep in mind that specific requirements can vary depending on the employer, trailer complexity, and the industry the technician will be working in.

Salary Description
$25-$35/Hour
