POSITION SUMMARY

The Department of Sociology and Criminology at Benedictine College invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2023. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

The beautiful campus of Benedictine College is situated in picturesque Atchison, KS on the bluffs above the Missouri River. Atchison is within an hour of major cities such as Kansas City, Saint Joseph, Lawrence and Topeka as well as 35 minutes from the Kansas City International Airport.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

We are seeking a sociologist with a specialization in social welfare. Candidates must have a commitment to teaching excellence. Preference will be given to candidates who can integrate family studies into our department’s evolving social welfare concentration. In addition, candidates should have teaching expertise in Introduction to Social Welfare (and related coursework), Research Design, Juvenile Delinquency, and Social Theory.

Education:

Ph.D. in sociology or allied field. ABD candidates will be considered for a non-tenure track position at the rank of Instructor but must have their committee chair certify that all requirements for the degree will be completed by December 31, 2023.


Experience
