ATGPAC is responsible for the training and certification of all ships in the Pacific Fleet. Training standards and requirements are continually evolving and expanding, requiring increased manpower and flexibility. ATGPAC has a continuing requirement to provide the US Pacific Fleet with training to conduct effective naval and joint operations across the spectrum of combat operations. ATGPAC’s mission is to provide dynamic, quality afloat training to Navy and Coast Guard Sailors to ensure a combat-ready force capable of performing a broad spectrum of maritime missions. Special emphasis is placed on training ships’ training teams, special evolution teams, and watch teams to institutionalize the onboard capability to sustain and improve combat readiness throughout a deployment cycle.

ATGPAC’s distributed training are computer-based simulation and/or Live, Virtual Constructive (LVC) events which is conducted in the ATGSD Battle Lab. Distributed training is defined as live or synthetic services, used to train or certify ships that are non-organic to ship/s being trained or certified. ATGPAC Battle Lab distributes exercise scenarios and conducts training over the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE), Tactical Data Links (TDL), Mission Distribution System (MDS), Battle Force Team Trainer (BFTT), and Global Command and Control System – Maritime (GCCS-M).

To accomplish this training, ATGPAC relies on Tactical Training Group Pacific to distribute virtual training to ships and other training facilities, as directed in the Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) Program.
