Electrical Engineer (Ref #2306-H)

Toyon Research Corporation is seeking an Electrical Engineer with an interest in project engineering to join the Advanced Concepts flight test team of the Aerospace Systems department. The ideal candidate will have designed and fielded mixed signal embedded electrical systems and has the desire to take on more responsibility for the ultimate success of the overall project. This position requires the ability to design/build/test one-off embedded PCB’s, understand system requirements at a fundamental level, and act as the technical guide for teams of interdisciplinary engineers through the realization of those requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Design and build mixed signal embedded system circuits

· Perform system analysis, generate requirements, and develop system designs.

· Devises new approaches to resolve unusual or complex engineering problems.

· Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material 


· Coordinate and interface with customers, contractors, and engineering groups assigned to projects.

· Develop and present technical material for reviews.

· Represent company at technical reviews, meetings, and system level integrations.

· Provide technical direction and lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.

· Will develop trade studies/white papers, when applicable, to explain design decisions or development approaches.


· Typically requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited 

  institution and progressive engineering experience as follows:

     o Bachelor’s degree plus four or more years of experience

     o Master’s degree plus two or more years of experience

        *May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

· Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required.

· Experience designing, building, and troubleshooting prototype embedded circuits.

· Experience with design tools like Altium and SPICE simulators.

· Experience working with communication protocols such as RS-232, RS422, ARINC, low voltage TTL, Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553 (or 

  1773) data communication interface.

· Experience with telemetry systems is desired.

· Familiarity with scientific computing software like Python + SciPy and/or MATLAB is desired.

· Ability to read, understand, and generate Interface Control Documents.

· Must be capable of working independently and with multi-disciplinary teams to find system solutions.

· Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the  

  ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads.

· Knowledge of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) is desired.

· Knowledge of systems engineering tools are desired (e.g., DOORS, Jama, MagicDraw)

U.S. Citizenship is Required. Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense security clearance required.
