As a leader in the Referee Programs department, the Operations Manager will be responsible for helping lead the business, project management, operations and day-to-day department initiatives in support of its technical objectives. The position is operational in nature, but an understanding of the U.S. Soccer landscape and refereeing is a plus. While the position is specific to Referee matters, the role will work to support the overall development of the game to help propel soccer to become the preeminent sport in the United States. This position is also responsible for exhibiting a high-degree of professionalism, people management leadership, maintaining a customer service mentality and communicating consistently and transparently.
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience, preferably in sports or athletics, within the areas of business operations or events
General knowledge of soccer required
History of meeting and/or exceeding deadlines
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments
Can analyze data (performance and financial) and present on findings
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe programs
Able and willing to travel up to 20% of the time
Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including weekends, evenings and holidays as needed
General knowledge of the referee landscape
Detail oriented and experience with editing content
Comfort working with online platforms
Ability to prioritize and manage several different projects simultaneously
History of managing or leading a team, engaging in staff development
