Westside Family Healthcare is a nonprofit organization that provides high quality primary medical care without regard to ability to pay.  The Employee Health and Infection Prevention RN, in coordination with clinical leadership, directs Westside Family Healthcare’s Employee Health activities for all Westside staff members, assuring that each team member meets health requirements, and facilitates team activities such as influenza vaccine campaigns. The Employee Health and Infection Prevention RN monitors, facilitates, trends and reports infection prevention activities for the organization. In addition, the Employee Health and Infection Prevention RN is responsible for working with individuals exposed to, at risk for, or infected with infectious diseases (including COVID-19), to provide a safe work environment.

Employee Health activities

  1. Collaborates with the HR team during the onboarding process to review Employee Health information, as well as performs ongoing monitoring of Employee Health records. This includes, but is not limited to, managing immunization records, tuberculosis testing, and FIT testing for N95 masks
  2. Develops and communicates workplace exclusion criteria for various conditions, including COVID-19, and counsels staff on these policies as needed
  3. Supports employee influenza and COVID vaccination campaigns
  4. Serves as point of contact for sharps or other workplace injuries and exposures
  5. Facilitates and champions other Employee Wellness initiatives as needed
  6. Serves as point of contact for team members experiencing infectious disease symptoms or exposures, including COVID, and develops a plan for their safe return to work
  7. Coordinates prevention and surveillance activities for employees who are at risk for infectious diseases, such as those that have special accommodations due to medical or religious vaccine exemptions

Infection Prevention activities

  1. Monitors infection prevention activities such as hand hygiene, annual and ad hoc PPE training, and sterilization processes
  2. Maintains the infection prevention dashboard, including monitoring, tracking and trending sharps injuries and exposures
  3. Manages and updates infection prevention policies as needed
  4. Manages FDA recalls as they pertain to clinical equipment and supplies
  5. Manages and updates training materials relevant to infection prevention and control MINIMUM OBJECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
  6. Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program
  7. Three years’ experience as an RN in ambulatory care or comparable experience
  8. Active RN licensure in the State of Delaware with no restrictions
  9. Current BLS certification
  10. Ability and availability to work 40 hours per week and to receive calls regarding infectious disease exposures or symptoms outside of typical work hours. May include shifts starting at 6:00AM PREFERRED OBJECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
  11. Prior employee health or wellness experience
  12. Prior infection prevention experience OTHER INFORMATION
Requirements
  1. Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program
  2. Three years’ experience as an RN in ambulatory care or comparable experience
  3. Active RN licensure in the State of Delaware with no restrictions
  4. Current BLS certification
