We currently have an opening for an Electrical Engineer at our operating site in Houston, TX. The future of this role may result in project work at other Process Insights locations. The Electrical Engineer will have responsibility for electrical hardware and/or software design and maintenance of the product line to include detail drawing review, ECR (Engineering Change Review), NPI (New Product Introduction), industry standard compliance assurance, etc.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the design of new products and assurance of industry standards compliance of the existing product lines (e.g., ASTM, CE, ATEX, etc.)
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Strategic vision of customer requirements and industry trends to incorporate product design enhancements.
  • Maintain an accurate engineering released documentation assuring proper follow up procedures of engineering change releases.
  • Define, implement, and monitor the Company’s Quality Objectives (KPI’s), as well as sustain existing KPI’s.
  • Plans and coordinates implementation of product releases and engineering change notices including creation of new solution items, item revisions, schematic reviews & approvals, and bill-of-material management.
  • Research, design, modify, and test manufacturing methods and equipment, conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Assure proper understanding and communication through marketing ready material that would contribute to product differentiation and growth.
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.

Qualifying Attributes and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required. 
  • Minimum of five years of experience with embedded code and hardware design is preferred.
  • Technical proficiency in Electrical CAD software (Altium, Ki cad or Orcad)
  • Computer Aided Design experience, Altium a plus
  • Good grasp of standard circuit board operations, Circuit board assembly and layout techniques
  • Ability to understand Component Lists, Electrical Schematics, Layouts & Instrumentation.
  • Ability to work with a technical staff and customers with varying experience levels.
  • Circuit simulation, Filter design and signal processing experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to assist with tasks, even when the work is out of the scope of responsibilities.
  • Experience with communication protocols RS232, 485, Hart, TCP/IP a plus

  • Read, interpret, and comprehend engineering prints / assembly drawings / BOM’s.
  • Good knowledge of contemporary systems and techniques, Reliability Analysis, VA/VE
  • Ability to understand manufacturing processes, in order to be able to effectively optimize processes and documents accordingly.
  • High level understanding of design engineering requirements to determine resources needed to execute on customer projects and compliant system requirements.
  • Professionalism, with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to read, interpret and comprehend engineering prints / assembly drawings / BOM’s.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills, a results-oriented work ethic, and ability to work alone with limited direct supervision.
  • Fiscal and financial awareness is a must. Attention to cost and expense matters and promote.
