At Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese, employee health and safety is our top priority. We have implemented additional processes and precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our facilities. In addition, we take great care to ensure frequently touched surfaces are sanitized throughout the day and all warehouses are fully sanitized daily.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, participates in the shipping, receiving, storing and issuing of materials/supplies, inventory/fixed assets, maintain receiving and inventory control records and prepare related reports; unload incoming inventory from trucks. Stock inventory into shelf locations. Pick inventory for shipment to customers.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists with shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders and distributing to sales associates for processing.
  • Reads customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped.
  • Moves materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
  • Sol1s and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials other stock items and distributes items to shipping or to designated route driver storage area.
  • Ensures warehouse is accessible and safe for salespeople and customer traffic.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves or relocates orders to a holding area or shipping department.
  • Marks materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
  • Opens bales. crates, and other containers.
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed via appropriate computer program.
  • Assists in counting of physical inventory.
  • Completing requisition forms to order supplies from other departments.
  • Sweeping, dusting, and mopping of all warehouse areas, finished cooler, loading dock, outside cold storage, dry warehouse and overall work environment.
  • Organizes warehouse and work area and assures it is always orderly.
  • Participates in departmental, safety, operations, and all other company sponsored meetings.
  • Fills in as needed to ensure efficient operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a warehouse setting. The job includes working in the packaging room where it can be wet and cold.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   The job requires the ability to operate a forklift and reach-lift safely. The individual must be able to lift, transport, pull and push up to 50 pounds regularly. Must be able to regularly stand, walk, lift Carry, Push, Pull, Climb, Bend, and perform other general duties. Be physically able to work an eight (8) hour day or more while on your feet as this position will spend 90% of the time standing. Climbing, reaching, walking, sitting, grasping, repetitive motions, visual acuity, and hearing.

  

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK  

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work must be flexible, weekends may be required.


TRAVEL

Some travel between both plants are required.

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Certified Forklift Driver

Valid California Drivers License


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma

• Basic Computer Literacy, including Microsoft Excel

• Quality Assurance Classes

• Cleaning and Sanitation Classes to keep up on current Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)

• Accepts flexible working schedule which can include weekends

• Ability to track and report lots and weights
