Your Role:  

The Studio Design Lead is a dynamic leader and seasoned design professional. The role oversees the Design department and is responsible for employee training, mentoring and development and ensuring quality design solutions and deliverables with a high level of customer service. The Studio Design Lead will work with the Vice President of Creative Services to strategically align Design department goals with Company goals, taking into consideration current customer requirements, market conditions and resources

 

This role is eligible for our Flexible Workplace policy, there is an expectation to work from our San Francisco office 2 days a week. 


Lead Management Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting bi-weekly 1:1s, contributing to semi-annual performance evaluations, mentoring, and specialized training of team members
  • Participates in all candidate interviews for the Design team and typically joins cohort panel interviews, as needed. 
  • Oversees the onboarding training for new Designers and conducts the Introductory Period Performance Review.
  • Creates and updates standard operating procedures (SOP) that improve efficiency and overall stakeholder experience. 
  • Conduct classes to teach procedures to Designers and cross-functional team members.
  • Takes part of cross-functional resource meetings to better coordinate, delegate, and supervise the daily activities of their direct reports.
  • Responsible for certain payroll functions, such as reviewing & approving time-off requests, and expense reimbursements.
  • Makes decisions that are guided by policies, procedures, and CRI’s business plan. Receives guidance and oversight from their manager.
  • Results are primarily achieved through the work of others and typically depend on the Lead’s ability to influence and negotiate with parts of the organization. 
  • Does not spend more than 10%-30% of time performing the work supervised

Designer Responsibilities:

  • Participate in creative efforts on client projects, developing overall design concepts and design presentation strategies
  • Interface with clients, A&D partners, and other trades to consult on design questions
  • Collaborate with team members and colleagues to promote an inter-disciplinary service strategy
  • Participate in client pitch interviews as a representative of the design team as needed
  • Participate in selection of furniture finishes
  • Present ideas to internal and external stakeholders
  • Produce space plans, furniture plans, elevations, conceptual and finished design presentation documentation
  • Provide accurate furniture specifications, perform spec checks, and generate installation drawings
  • Work with furniture manufacturers to understand technical specifications of furniture
  • Provide solutions to design problems and generate design alternatives
  • Ensure all design solutions are in compliance with all applicable codes
  • Participate in field and site verifications as needed
  • Understand and apply knowledge of current workplace trends, new materials, technologies and workplace products into designs
Requirements
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with and manage a wide variety of professional staff; experience in growing and mentoring a very dynamic team 
  • Minimum of 5+ years of design related job experience in furniture or a related field or demonstrated ability. Supervisory experience is required.  
  • Self-starting, solution-oriented, energetic, strategic, creative and results-oriented with a strong background in Commercial Furniture, Interior Design or a related field 
  • Understanding of contract furniture processes, including creative design, technical design, procurement and delivery/installation 
  • Working knowledge of workplace environment issues and trends (ergonomics, technology integration, custom furniture, etc.), current practices, custom and contract furniture, building codes, ADA regulations and electrical codes 
  • Exceptional organizational, administrative and communication skills 
  • Demonstrated commitment as a professional, with integrity and sound judgment in business transactions, and providing the highest level of customer satisfaction 
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, 3D Rendering Software; specification software experience desirable 
  • College degree required; degree in interior design, architecture or related field preferred.  
  • Must be detailed, organized, flexible and service oriented with the ability to multi-task, problem solve and prioritize effectively.   
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a high pressure, deadline-intensive environment while managing multiple competing initiatives.

Salary Description
$90,000 - $120,000
