Position Description
Reporting into the General Counsel, the Senior Counsel – Commercial will support the Federation in managing the legal affairs of the United States Soccer Federation, Inc.
Primary Responsibilities
- Representing U.S. Soccer in its commercial contract negotiations, including reviewing, drafting, and negotiating high-level sponsorships, licenses, and media agreements
- Supporting the commercial team by providing advice on complex legal matters
- Providing legal support and oversight of CBA compliance
- Managing the contracting process for the organization, across different functions
- Willingness to step in, as needed, in a wide variety of areas, including membership and compliance
- Managing, guiding, counseling, and supporting the work of more junior colleagues (e.g., lawyers, paralegals, and interns)
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree
- Minimum seven to ten years’ experience working as an attorney; preferably with some private firm experience
- Experience with sponsorship and licensing legal work and contract negotiation

- Intellectual property experience
- Ability to work independently, while coordinating and communicating with other members of the legal/compliance team throughout the process
- Management experience preferred
