Position Summary

The Metrology Technician II calibrates and maintains gages and measuring equipment in accordance with technical requirements and the gage control program.


Job Duties

  • Calibrates measuring equipment using necessary procedures and layout inspection techniques for conformance to requirements.
  • Works with all necessary departments to ensure gaging meets requirements.
  • Repairs and adjusts measuring equipment as required.
  • Interprets engineering drawings.
  • Maintains accurate records.
  • Assists in gage control, maintenance, and calibration procedure development.
  • Performs gage Repeatability and Reliability (R&R) studies and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Assists in the support of Statistical Process Control (SPC) program.
  • Performs functional checks for all new, repaired, or midwifed gages.
  • Establishes and maintains calibration cycles.
  • Assists all departments with difficult inspections.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Educational Requirements

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Associate’s degree in related field preferred. 


Experience Requirements

4 years Metrology experience or progressive experience in quality control and mechanical inspection.


Skills and Competencies

  • Thorough knowledge in print reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Thorough knowledge in use of various measuring and test equipment and solid layout inspection techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of the gage control program and calibration methods.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve gaging issues.
  • Ability to follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Strong mathematical skills.


Tools

Network and Windows required. Excel and Word preferred.


Licenses/Certifications

ASQC Certified Mechanical Inspector preferred.


Working Conditions

Typical manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noises and dangerous chemicals and machinery. Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds unassisted.
