Position: Human Resources Generalist

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Durham, North Carolina, Hybrid Remote (Must be in the Raleigh-Durham area)

Reports to: HR Manager


 Job Overview:

Performs professional duties (HRIS – Paylocity, Benefit Administration, Employee Relations, Orientation, etc.) in support of the People & Culture department to help ensure an effective operation in support of the company and employees. A detail-oriented team player, who enjoys methodical problem solving, process driven, combining accuracy and positive behavior traits, such as being trustworthy, well-organized, adaptable, and analytical. Be a good steward for the company and employees. Responsibilities may cover a wide range of tasks within the human resources function to support the People & Culture team.

  

Job Duties:

  • Coordinate new employee orientation/onboarding of new employees, employee surveys and tasks associated with off-boarding of staff upon employment termination. 
  • Ensure new hire training is completed within the recommended timeframe by following up with associates to ensure that required training, harassment and policy acknowledgement requirements are met.
  • Assist and counsel employees with benefits and other questions; assist with open enrollment meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate recruitment of new applicants, including posting jobs on job boards, following up with applicants, scheduling interviews with department managers/management staff with candidates, conducting interviews (as applicable), and related recruitment tasks.
  • Assist with payroll processing, employee enrollment for insurance and retirement plans and coordinating with our benefit advisors to ensure that all paperwork is completed and is correct.
  • Maintain HRIS to ensure the database accurately reflects all employee information.
  • Supports the recruiting function by administering new hire paperwork and ensuring that all documentation is complete and submitted for new hire setup. 
  • Conduct/document reporting associated with background checks.
  • Assist with unemployment claim responses and unemployment filings.
  • Educate and enforce company policies, procedures, and protocol.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and/or training as required.
  • Perform other administrative duties and general assignments as directed.

  • Education: Bachelor or master’s degree in human resources, business, or related field; Master’s Degree in HR is preferred 
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience or more in Human Resources.
  • Certification: SHRM or HRCI certification is strongly preferred.
  • HRIS: Strong experience using an HRIS system. Paylocity is preferred.

The physical requirements of this position:

  • Light work - exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must have good visual and auditory acuity.
