JOB DESCRIPTION:

The primary purpose of your job position is to assist the nurse in meeting clinical needs of the residents in accordance with federal and state guidelines, as well as in accordance with our established policies and procedures.

Requirements

  

JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Administer medications as ordered – including intramuscular, intradermal & subcutaneous injections

· Administer vaccinations/immunizations as ordered

· Obtain and record vital signs

· Collect specimens, such as urine, blood, or sputum, for lab tests

· Report lab results to the physician 

· Schedule appointments

· Resident education about treatment procedures, about a diagnosis, medication and

special diets

· Prepare & maintain medical record 

· Perform wound care & changing dressings

· Filling out insurance forms 

· Taking medical history 

· Assisting the physician during examinations

· Provide basic first aid

· Performing basic laboratory tests

· Documentation of care 

· Perform ostomy care 

· All other duties as assigned


JOB FUNCTIONS THAT CANNOT BE PERFORMED:

· Not able to assess, plan, or evaluate a resident condition

· Not able to interpret lab or test results or advise a resident about their medical condition

· Not administer IV medications

· Not able to perform any procedure, technique, or treatment that would constitute the practice of medicine

· Not perform any duties beyond scope of practice 


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have an associate degree
  • Must be a certified and/or registered medical assistant
