Description

Job Summary:

The Director of Finance serves as Garrison's lead administrator managing company-wide accounting, financial planning, analysis, and information technologies. Primary financial functions include internal control, financial compliance, cash management, financial reporting/analysis/planning, business performance measurement, and risk management. Primary IT functions include ensuring stable systems and automating processes to provide more timely, accurate, and insightful reporting with less administrative effort.


Primary Responsibilities and Key Goals for the Position:

  • Oversee the operations of the Accounting Department and manage General Accounting activities across the business in a timely and accurate manner, consistent with GAAP and international financial reporting standards.
  • Timely and accurately produce the annual budget, monthly financial reports, and business performance metrics.
  • Provide financial analysis, contract negotiations, capital appropriations requests, viability studies to justify key projects, measure post-approval project performance, and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Identify and implement improvements to timeliness and quality of financial reporting.
  • Document and implement improvements to finance, accounting, IT, and business administration related processes.
  • Support Operations with reporting and training to reduce administrative effort and enabling self-service. 
  • Lead the IT function by supporting the third-party IT firm, ensuring systems are stable and continuously improved to:
    • streamline information flow,
    • improve systems and automate processes to provide more timely, accurate, and insightful reporting with less administrative effort,
    • outline plan to improve ERP system stability and performance,
    • assist business leaders in improving company-wide performance reporting by applying your well-honed IT and Excel knowledge and best practices.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in accounting.
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge of understanding and improving IT systems and information flow.
  • 7+ years of related experience required. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Understand the speech of another person.
  • Speak clearly so listeners can understand.
