Job Summary

Plans, coordinates, and implements the Community Relations activities and Fund Development program for the organization. Works with a dynamic team in a community based health and human services organization to execute a development strategy that includes targeted special events, grants, annual appeals, research and donor cultivation, donor management and recognition, capital campaign, and major gift giving with a focus on planned giving.

Essential Duties

  • Participates with the Chief Executive Officer and governing body to design and implement a comprehensive community relation and development plan.
  • Provides supervision and support to the Individual Gift Specialist, Donor Records, and Stewardship Specialist, Development & Public Relations Coordinator, Development and Public Relations Assistant, and Grant/Contract Coordinators.
  • Oversees all development functions of Casa de los Niños, including annual fund, campaigns, donor projects, donor cultivation, recognition, major gifts, planned giving, and special events.
  • Evaluates the effect of internal and external forces on the organization and its development program and make recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer and governing board for strategic short- and long-term goals.
  • Helps develop a balanced funding mix of donor sources and solicitation programs tailored to the organization’s needs that will enable it to attract, retain, and motivate donors and fundraising volunteers.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, maintains accountability standards to donors, and ensures compliance with code of ethical principles for fundraising executives as published by Association for Fundraising Professionals.
  • Helps identify, cultivate, recruit and develop fundraising volunteers and board leadership.
  • Develops, revises, and manages the budgets for community relations, development, Foundation operations, volunteer program, and special events, outside special events, publications and donor records.
  • Provides staff support to the Casa de los Ninos Board of Directors and the Casa de los Ninos Foundation. Attend board functions and staff meetings as requested.
  • Oversees all external communications via, appeals, advertising, newsletters, social media, and the website.
  • Perform additional duties involving public relations and fund development as assigned.
  • Requires Master’s degree and 1-3 years experience in development and/or a Bachelor's Degree plus 3-5 years experience in development, excellent verbal and written skills, comprehensive management skills including short and long term planning evaluation directing and motivating staff.
  • The position requires demonstrated experience in managing and implementing a comprehensive fund development program and a track record for producing charitable contributions.
  • Proof of COVID immunization.
  • Must be able to meet training and organization requirements for the position.
