The Boston Convention Marketing Center (BCMC) is seeking a Marketing Communications Specialist to engage target audiences across marketing initiatives to support the sales and marketing of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC), the Hynes Convention Center (Hynes), and The Lawn On D. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer with a keen eye for design. They will develop content for our website, blog, social media, sales collateral, advertising, public relations, and other marketing communications, delivering a consistent and engaging message across various platforms (print, social, email, video, infographics, etc.) in integrated marketing campaigns. This individual will work collaboratively with the sales team to develop communications programs that bring clients through the sales cycle and assist in overcoming customer challenges. 

The Marketing Communications Specialist contributes to the day-to-day operations of the Marketing & Creative Services Team. They must have experience working collaboratively and proactively to deliver impactful campaigns and be skilled at managing multiple projects at a time. 


The BCMC is a joint effort of Meet Boston (formerly GBCVB) and the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) to market and sell the BCEC, the Hynes, and The Lawn On D.  Employment is with Meet Boston.


The Marketing Communications Specialist Responsibilities include:

  • Produce high-quality blog articles, web copy, email marketing campaigns, video scripts, white papers, press releases, case studies, and more, implementing SEO best practices where applicable.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and customer challenges to build a more effective content library.
  • Continuously measure performance and improve content leveraging data from Google Analytics, HubSpot, and other analytics tools.
  • Develop and manage the social media strategy and editorial calendar for Signature Boston and The Lawn On D, working in collaboration with the BCMC’s marketing design team. Coordinate social media coverage of events at the BCEC, the Hynes and The Lawn On D. 
  • Manage website content for SignatureBoston.com and LawnOnD.com to ensure that the sites stay current. This includes oversight of client marketing tools such as the Meeting Planner Toolkit and Meeting Planner Alerts. 
  • Develop content for sales collateral, client presentations, and marketing reports.
  • Build relationships with external partners, customers, industry professionals, and journalists.
  • Work closely with other BCMC, MCCA, and Meet Boston departments to effectively articulate our core offerings and the benefits of hosting an event in our facilities, as well as position Boston as a premier convention destination.
Requirements


  • 3-5 years of B2B/B2C marketing communications experience.  Must have previous full-time work experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing to a target audience with a clear and distinct voice.
  • Experience in developing content across marketing channels including print, digital, and video.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Experience with email automation.
  • Strong collaboration and organizational skills.
  • Skilled in producing attractive content that applies brand guidelines.
  • Team player comfortable owning projects while collaborating with other team members, such as coordinators and interns, to assist in generating content for campaigns.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with experience in using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Vimeo, HubSpot, Mailchimp or similar e-mail/content marketing platforms.
  • Work samples are required including examples of your writing and marketing communications skills.
  • The Marketing Communications Specialist is a full-time, Monday through Friday position; The BCMC offers work-from-home Fridays.
  • Proof of COVID vaccination is required for employment.
