Position Summary:
The Sr. DBA’s primary contribution to the team involves providing technical expertise in the design, implementation and maintenance of database management systems that serve accurate information which our business and customers consume. The Sr. DBA plans, designs, configures, develops, tests, deploys, and supports database management solutions to implement technical designs and provide support to application development. You’ll use technology and tools to identify problem areas and optimize SQL and database structures in a mission-critical database. You will work with scrum teams of product owners, software developers, and business analysts in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to model, map, and migrate data, as well as performance tune application SQL.
Position Responsibilities:
- Designs and develops SQL Server Stored Procedures, Functions, Views and Triggers to be used during the development lifecycle. Implements processes and logic to extract, transform, and distribute data across one or more datastores from a wide variety of sources.
- Reviews application code that accesses the database(s) to ensure compliance with standards, consistency and performance.
- Troubleshoots and resolves data, system, and performance issues. Investigates data issues by tracing data flows from source to target systems.
- Plans, coordinates, and executes the installation of patches, new releases, and upgrades to database management environment for optimal performance and security.
- Participates in all aspects of the development process including collecting requirements, developing technical design, and collaborating across various teams within development and deployment.
- Document DBA procedures and tasks. Audit user access.
- Performs process design, data profiling and analysis, data quality testing, data modeling, and entity design.
- Builds intensive data acquisition and integration solutions in line with business requirements.
- Works across multiple functional areas and databases to understand data usage and mapping for data migration.
- Serves as a coordinator with other IT teams to understand source system modifications and impact to the data stores.
- Colorado Resident.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Mathematics or a directly related field and/or equivalent years of work experience.
- More than 5 years of database design, modeling and administration, including experience with writing PL/pgSQL/T-SQL queries, Stored Procedures, User Defined Functions, Jobs, Cursors, Views and Triggers, and Hibernate queries that are optimized for database efficiency.
- Experience in cloud (AWS, Azure, GCS) and open-source database and system implementations required.
- AWS RDS PostgreSQL, MS SQL and noSQL experience preferred.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of performance topics including:
o Index/SP/View and query tuning
o Data profiling and analysis
o Database performance monitoring
o Best practices to achieve high availability.
- Knowledge of integration concepts, patterns, and formats: XML Schemas, SOAP, WS Specifications, HIPAA EDI, JSON.
- Experience leading database conversion and migration activities.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and data management systems.
- Experience with AWS technologies like RDS, S3, Data Pipeline or similar technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
- Database security experience, including integrity, backup, recovery, access, and changes.
- Displays excellent analytical, written, and oral skills with demonstrated interpersonal and organization abilities.
- Works with minimal supervision or assistance to complete tasks required.
- Snowflake and Matillion ETL experience preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including upper levels of organizational management.
- Familiarity with Medicaid, ACA, Health care and/or Insurance industries preferred.
Work Environment:
- Currently working remotely.
- The Connect for Health Colorado office is in the North Tech Center area of Denver, near the intersection of I-25 and I-225.
- Work schedule may include some non-traditional hours, weekends, and evening events.
- Core office hours, typically 8am-5pm with some flexibility.

Connect for Health Colorado offers a competitive benefits package. Using Connect for Health Colorado’s annual benefits allowance, employees may elect from various benefit offerings and tailor a package to best suit their individual needs. Connect for Health Colorado employees are eligible to participate in the organization’s 403(b) plan and are additionally provided with paid time off, short- and long-term disability and life insurance. The salary range for this position is $104,200 - $145,000 per year.
