 In 1990, a small group of dedicated volunteers with a desire to eliminate substandard housing in our community founded San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity.  Thanks to our supporters, more than 200 local and international families have been able to build or repair their own homes here in Los Angeles’ San Gabriel Valley and beyond. Through the years, we have maintained our unrelenting   determination to help families in need by offering a hand up, not a handout.


Through donations, shopping at our ReStores, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.

Pay Rate: $64,480 - $66,000

 

Job Summary

The Store Manager oversees all aspects of the organization’s ReStore operations  and leads with excellence to ensure maximum success for the ReStore. This position is responsible for achieving and exceeding sales and profit objectives, undertaking career development of staff, effective merchandising, effective store marketing, outstanding store cleanliness, strong customer satisfaction, and organization. The Store Manager is a mission-critical role that supports SGV Habitat to live out our vision of a San Gabriel Valley and world where everyone has a decent place to live. 


This position requires some early morning, late evening and weekend hours. 


     

Essential Job Duties

  • Meet and exceed sales and bottom-line profit objectives for the ReStore 
  • Manage store revenue, including cash handling, deposit reconciliation, bank deposits 
  • Manage operational issues, including physical inventories, price changes, housekeeping and store administrative duties
  • Implement effective scheduling, to maximize productivity, profitability and margins
  • Create and implement strong career development for all employees
  • Implement employee performance evaluations and improvement plans
  • Train, evaluate and counsel store associates
  • Recruit, train and cultivate volunteers and existing work force development placements
  • Effectively merchandise donated products and purchased products 
  • Create effective product placement and displays to maximize sales, train employees in merchandising
  • Optimize sales floor store layout to maximize sales
  • Promote the store through community and business events, networking 
  • Implement effective store and product marketing
  • Create strong customer loyalty and satisfaction
  • Implement strong customer service initiatives
  • Maintain outstanding store cleanliness and organization
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and health regulations including OSHA and Cal-OSHA
  • Communicates effectively with Logistics and Procurement Departments
  • Develop and maintain a strong customer and donor facing store culture

Position Reports to the Director of Retail Operations

Manager

This position will have oversight and accountability for the ReStore team 

Internal and External
Has regular contact with departments, employees and Managers at all levels of the internal organization as well as with External organizations, banks, vendors and donors

Influence
This position may influence the formulation of organizational policy, contractual obligations and employee morale

Requirements

Education

  • AA degree in a business related field, or equivalent work experience

Experience

  • Must have experience working retail sales
  • Understanding of home improvement items, hardware and furniture sales is a plus

Knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of business accounting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Working knowledge of Retail Business
  • Strong a mechanical skill is a plus.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both store staff as well as customers and vendors.
  • Displays comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong People Skills: Motivates and rewards staff for achievements and exceeding sales goals and safety goals
