Wayside Publishing is a progressive developer of world language programs, resources, and materials for middle and high schools across the United States. We partner with educators to craft transformative texts and digital tools that engage students and foster successful communication and understanding across cultures.

What You'll Do

As the Senior Marketing Manager, you will oversee Wayside Publishing's promotion and advertising efforts to drive sales and build brand awareness. Your responsibilities include developing an overall marketing plan, optimizing marketing strategies, and increasing market share and competitiveness through data analytics. You will evaluate consumer trends, monitor customer satisfaction, and approve marketing campaigns for Wayside Publishing by doing any number of tasks such as: 

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork, and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required.
  • Leads development of marketing strategy by working closely with internal and external partners to create effective plans focused on growing the audience for our products and services.
  • Develops and understands finance and budgets to include research and development appropriations, expenditures, and profit-loss projections.
  • Analyzes the results of each campaign, compiling results in comprehensive reports for leadership and executive teams.
  • Facilitates key strategic discussions and provides thought leadership to the executive audience (output may include strategic roadmap and/or deliverables/frameworks/short to long-term goals, etc.).
  • Sets operational team direction and collaborates with others to execute common goals.
  • Provides insight on the annual conference calendar including exhibitor and sponsorship placements, filling speaker and workshop sessions, promoting conference and sessions, signage, and booth components, achieving conference goals for reviews and exposure, analysis of conferences to better inform continued participation, etc. 
  • Reacts quickly and confidently to urgent issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or related field required.  MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a team of diverse roles. 
  • 5+ years in marketing and long-range planning required.
  • Proven robust data analytics and budget management abilities. 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Experience in digital and print marketing, content marketing, and social media marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and improve current processes, campaigns, and results.
  • Experience driving revenue growth. 
  • At least 2 years of conference/trade show experience.
  • Preferred experience using Salesforce and Pardot. 
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Past work with digital marketing forms like content marketing and social media marketing
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously. 
  • Must be data-driven with a focus on return-on-investment dollars and resources. 
  • Ability to collaborate extensively and constructively across departments; excellent communication and problem-solving skills are critical.
