PURPOSE/FUNCTION OF PROGRAM:

Boys & Girls Village offers an array of services for children and their families. The services range from highly structured sub-acute services on campus to intensive intervention and care in the home and community. The function of the Facilities Department is to provide and maintain resources necessary for the Agency to run effectively and efficiently.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Housekeeper performs daily, weekly, and monthly housekeeping tasks for the residencies, the schools, and the administration building at all BGV sites. The Housekeeper will also assist facilities and food service as needed. This role is considered and classified as “essential” to the operation of the agency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum all floors/rugs
• Buff, strip, and wax floors
• Dust all areas, including vents, light fixtures, furniture, and window sills
• Clean windows in all areas
• Soiled linens washed and folded
• Ensure closets are clean/orderly/locked
• Ensure that there are enough snacks and utensils
• Clean refrigerator and check dates on food
• Bathroom: clean, disinfect, and ensure toiletries are refilled
• Empty all trash
• Ensures that only approved nontoxic chemicals are locked in the unit closets
• Assist with snow removal
• Bio clean up
• Deliver food and supplies to other BGV locations
• Steam clean furniture

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carries out other job-related duties as assigned
• Maintain Relias and agency trainings
• Informs supervisor immediately of any concerns or safety risks noted on the units

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

• High school diploma
• Experience in housekeeping work
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved oral or written communication
• Ability to relate to clients, staff and public in a courteous manner

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Institutional housekeeping experience

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• N/A

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to climb stairs, walk, sit, push and pull and move continuously, during work hours
