Part-Time Custodian
Description

The Virginia Institute of Autism is searching for a part time custodian to maintain and protect our facility.  The ideal candidate will be an experienced custodian who is focused on building upkeep and with a keen eye for detail.  The custodian will perform a range of custodial work, including dusting, sweeping, mopping up spills, vacuuming, and cleaning restrooms to ensure proper sanitation.  


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, straightening furniture and dusting surfaces
  • Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets
  • Clean mirrors and windows
  • Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and restock supplies (soap, paper products)
  • Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors and closing windows 
  • Assist with special projects as necessary



Requirements
  • Experience as a custodian, janitor or similar role
  • Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
  • Knowledge of safe disposal of hazardous items
  • Attention to detail and conscientiousness
  • Very good physical condition and strength
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred
